As of yesterday, Dutch fulfillment company Active Ants has been fully acquired by Belgian postal company Bpost. The acquisition was already announced in 2018, but at that time management remained in the hands of Active Ants. Now, the company has sold its remaining stake to Bpost.
The acquisition took place back in March 2018. Active Ants is a Dutch fulfillment company, which has grown significantly since its founding in 2011. Last year, it opened a distribution center in the United Kingdom. It now has a total of five locations in four countries.
Residual stake sold
The founders of Active Ants decided to sell the remaining stake to Bpost, in order for the company to continue growing. This was announced by Active Ants in a newsletter. As a result, Bram Blondé will become the company’s new CEO.
‘Bpost wants to continue to invest in the future of Active Ants.’
“With today’s transaction, Bpost Group makes it clear that it wants to continue to invest in the future of Active Ants. Our unique approach, which offers advanced solutions for warehousing, order processing and packaging, and where man and machine work harmoniously together, puts us in an excellent position to handle online orders efficiently,” Blondé said.
‘Active Ants fits with Bpost operations’
“Our end-to-end approach is perfectly aligned with Bpost Group’s cross-border activities and is also completely complementary to the customized fulfillment services offered by Radial, also a Bpost Group member.”
‘The founders will remain in place for some time to finalize the acquisition.’
The founders of Active Ants, Jean Lahaye and Jeroen Dekker, are leaving the company. However, they will remain in place for some time to finalize the acquisition. “Our commitment to innovation, sustainability and top quality remains unchanged. Together with Active Ants’ experienced management team, we will explore how we can further improve and optimize our services.”
